What is EDC Las Vegas?

Electric Daisy Carnival changes shape: one neon city, two weekends.

EDC Las Vegas 2027 is the biggest structural change in the festival's 30-year history. Instead of one enormous weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Dusk Till Dawn era splits it in two: EDC Dusk runs 14 to 16 May, EDC Dawn runs 21 to 23 May, with the same lineup both weekends and a twelve-day Las Vegas takeover in between. Insomniac has been explicit about why: lower capacity per weekend, more space on the dance floors, easier travel and hotels, and launch prices rolled back closer to what they were a decade ago.

The scale is still absurd in the best way. Recent editions drew around 525,000 attendances across three nights, with 450+ artists across 18 music areas, all running dusk till dawn under fireworks. The 2027 lineup lands closer to the festival; the passes did not wait for it.

Dates

EDC Dusk 14-16 May and EDC Dawn 21-23 May 2027, identical lineups, plus a Las Vegas takeover between the weekends.

Place

Las Vegas Motor Speedway - the racetrack becomes a neon city that runs from dusk till dawn, 18+ only.

Scale

Around 525,000 attendances across a single weekend in recent years; 2027 deliberately runs each weekend smaller.

Why people come back

Kinetic Field at 2am, the ferris wheel, fireworks every night: the maximal version of American dance music.

The EDC Las Vegas ferris wheel at night surrounded by lasers cutting through the sky
This is what half a million people fight for passes to stand inside: a carnival skyline where the lasers own the sky until sunrise.

Why tickets are hard

The 2027 sale is already over. It lasted weeks, ten months early.

Here is the honest state of play: every standalone EDC Las Vegas 2027 festival pass is sold out, and it happened in July 2026 - roughly ten months before the festival. The Future Owl presale opened on 22 May 2026 with single-weekend passes from 399.99 USD and both-weekend passes from 599.99 USD; within about six days EDC Dawn and every both-weekend combination were gone, and the remaining Dusk passes followed. There was no general on-sale, and after 2026 sold out in around 24 hours a year early, nobody should expect one to return.

What remains are the official fallback routes. The Insomniac Tickets waitlist is free to join and charges nothing unless passes free up. Hotel EDC packages bundle festival passes with rooms and have become the last reliable official way in. And Camp EDC - ShiftPod villages and RV pitches that sell separately and never include a festival pass - has not even opened its 2027 sale yet.

  • No general on-sale exists any more: the Future Owl presale absorbs the full allocation, so unprepared groups never see a buy button.
  • Layaway starts at a 5 USD deposit, but missed instalments can cancel the plan - every buyer needs the payment schedule visible somewhere shared.
  • Camp EDC sells separately from festival passes and does not include them; a camping pass without a festival pass is a very expensive car park.
  • Everything is all-sales-final, and Insomniac warns that scalped tickets can leave you turned away at the gate with no refund.

The wristband trap

Unnamed until scanned, final once bought: custody is the whole game.

EDC passes are wristbands, not named tickets. Insomniac's own FAQ allows buying for friends - up to the four-per-person limit - and a wristband is transferable right up until the moment it is first scanned at the gate. After that, it is locked to whoever wore it in. Combined with the all-sales-final policy, that puts the entire risk on group custody: who holds which wristband, who has actually paid whom back, and what happens if someone drops out.

The official advice for a drop-out is to gift or sell the pass to a friend or family member - never a scalper site, where Insomniac is blunt that illegitimate tickets get turned away with no refund. One more detail worth writing down at purchase time: wristband replacements and support cases run through the original purchaser, so a group should record the buyer's order details before anyone needs them at will-call.

Know the rules before money moves: four passes per buyer, wristbands transferable only until first scan, layaway plans that die if instalments bounce, and no refunds anywhere. A crew that writes those four facts into the plan never argues about them in May.

Ticket rules

Named or transferable? We checked.

Transferable tickets

Wristbands can be bought for or gifted to friends and are not name-checked; they become non-transferable only after first scan. Official resale runs via Insomniac and Ticketmaster.

Whoever holds the ticket gets in. So the crew move is simple: buy what you can when the sale opens, then use the TicketSquad Tickets board to declare spares and needs, and confirm each hand-over so nothing gets lost in the group chat.

The group method

Right now the method is coverage of what remains, run as one budget.

With standalone passes gone, an EDC group in mid-2026 has three live routes, and they only work if the group treats them as one plan. Everyone joins the official waitlist for the weekend the group actually wants - waitlist allocations land per account, so ten people watching one login wastes nine chances. Hotel EDC gets weighed honestly as a bundle: rooms plus passes costs more, but it is the one route with confirmed inventory. And Camp EDC's eventual on-sale is a diary date to prepare for, not a surprise to react to.

EDC Las Vegas group buying method

  1. 1

    Choose the weekend together

Dusk, Dawn or the dream of both. Waitlist entries, Hotel EDC bundles and travel plans all hang off this one decision, so make it first and write it down.

  2. 2

    Put everyone on the waitlist

The official Insomniac Tickets waitlist is free and allocates per account. Every member joins for the agreed weekend; nobody relies on someone else’s login.

  3. 3

Weigh Hotel EDC as one budget

Bundles cost more but carry confirmed passes. Decide as a group who can stretch to it, instead of finding out in May that half the crew quietly could not.

  4. 4

Prepare for the Camp EDC sale

Camping sells separately, never includes festival passes, and rewards returning campers and Future Owl buyers with early access. Name an owner to watch for the date.

A calm EDC plan has one place for the real answers: who is on the waitlist for which weekend, who can stretch to a Hotel EDC bundle, what the all-in budget ceiling is per person - flights, rooms, shuttles included - and who is responsible for the Camp EDC sale the moment it gets a date.

This cycle and next

Cover the waitlist now; be four prepared buyers next May.

The 2028 cycle will look like 2027's: a Future Owl presale roughly a year out that absorbs everything, four passes per buyer, layaway from a small deposit. That cap is the group's honest advantage. Four friends who each enter the presale as prepared buyers - accounts made, cards loaded, tier and weekend agreed - can legitimately cover sixteen people. The crews that miss out are the ones deciding what to buy while the timer runs.

MomentWhat the group does
NowWeekend agreed, everyone on the official waitlist, all-in budgets written down, Hotel EDC yes/no decided per person.
Waitlist hitThe allocated member buys immediately - waitlist offers expire - then records passes held, money owed and custody in the shared plan.
Camp EDC saleThe named owner buys the agreed pod or RV pitch the day it opens; camping stock has its own clock and no festival passes inside.
Next Future OwlFour prepared buyers per sixteen people: accounts ready, tiers agreed, layaway understood, nobody deciding in the queue.
Before travelWristbands distributed and logged, shuttle or parking passes sorted, IDs checked against the 18+ gate rules.
ArrivalGovernment ID in hand, wristband on the right wrist - it locks to its wearer at first scan - and a meeting point that survives 100,000 people.

2 weekends

Dusk 14-16 May, Dawn 21-23 May - same lineup, one group decision.

4 per buyer

$5 down

Layaway starts tiny, but a bounced instalment can cancel the whole plan.

up to4xbetter odds

Four passes per buyer is the honest maths of the Future Owl presale.

A crew of four entering the presale as prepared buyers has up to four legitimate shots at the same allocation, and the first one through can cover the whole car. That is the entire trick, and it is completely within the rules.

Golden fireworks over the full neon expanse of EDC Las Vegas at the Speedway
The whole neon city under fireworks. Getting a crew here takes ten months of small admin done right, which is exactly why it feels this good.

Why it matters

EDC is easier to love when the admin is already done.

Nobody remembers the layaway schedule once the fireworks start. They remember walking under the owl into a city built for one purpose, with the whole crew inside, nobody stranded at will-call arguing about a wristband that got scanned onto the wrong wrist.

None of this is queue-jumping or gaming the system. Everyone joins the same presale and the same waitlist. The difference is a group that made its decisions before the ten-month clock started, instead of after it ran out.

Where TicketSquad helps

TicketSquad keeps a year-long EDC plan from leaking through the cracks.

TicketSquad gives an EDC crew one place for the things this festival punishes you for losing: Insomniac account emails, weekend choice, tier preferences, all-in budget ceilings, waitlist status per person, layaway schedules, Camp EDC intentions and who holds which wristband when the box arrives.

EDC planning runs across ten months and two countries' worth of travel decisions. A group chat forgets; a shared plan does not. Set it up once and the next Future Owl window becomes a checklist, not a scramble.

This is one way we help

The event page becomes the plan, not just the place you store names.

Once the ticket method is clear, the next question is everything around it: where the official links are, what kind of ticket or package the squad is aiming for, what the lineup status is, how people get there, where they sleep, and what they should know before they arrive. TicketSquad keeps that event knowledge beside the data your squad needs to submit.

EDC Las Vegas 2027

14–24 May 2027Las Vegas Motor Speedway

EDC Las Vegas 2027 is the moment Electric Daisy Carnival changes shape: not one giant weekend at the Speedway, but the new Dusk Till Dawn era across two weekends. EDC Dusk runs 14-16 May, EDC Dawn runs 21-23 May, and the wider Las Vegas takeover stretches through the days in between. This is the largest, loudest, most fully-realised version of the American electronic festival dream: Las Vegas Motor Speedway turned into a night city of nine arenas, art cars, rides, fireworks, ceremonies, costumes, totems, neon ar...

Buying tickets

Friday is the move

2027 Future Owl passes go on sale Friday 22 May 2026 at 12pm PT. Have every buyer logged into Front Gate early, payment ready, weekend choice agreed and backup tier decided before the queue opens.

Travel & accommodation

Pick the stay model before checkout

Camp EDC, Hotel EDC, an official hotel, RV camping, or a cheaper off-Strip room all produce different sleep, shuttle and recovery plans. Decide the model before ticket day so nobody buys a pass they cannot support logistically.

When you're there

Sleep is part of the plan

EDC hours run deep into the morning. Build your days around sleep, food, shade and recovery, especially if your Squad is doing both weekends or Camp EDC. A room reset can be worth more than another day party.
