How to get Austin City Limits tickets with your group

Austin City Limits takes its name from the PBS television institution and its muscle from hometown giant C3 Presents, the company behind Lollapalooza. 2026 is its 25th anniversary, run in the format ACL has settled into: two near-identical three-day weekends in Zilker Park, 2-4 and 9-11 October, capped at 75,000 a day for around 450,000 total attendances. More than a hundred performances run across nine stages each weekend. Charli xcx, Lorde, Rüfüs Du Sol, Twenty One Pilots and The xx top both bills, and the only headline difference is Skrillex on Weekend One against Kings of Leon on Weekend Two.

It's a city festival to its bones. There's no camping and no festival parking. Days run roughly 11am to 10pm under strong Texas sun, a free shuttle from Republic Square downtown does the transport work, and the Austin skyline stands in for a campsite one. The pricing is refreshingly honest too - every advertised price is all-in, "No Hidden Fees" - which makes the tiers easy to compare and keeps the budget conversation short.

The 2026 cycle shows the modern ACL pattern with unusual clarity. The blind presale opened on 10 December 2025 - no lineup, just dates - at $325 for a 3-day GA pass, with layaway from $20 down and a six-ticket order cap. Weekend One's GA and GA+ reportedly cleared within hours. By the time the lineup landed on 5 May, with single days a week later, W1 was already a waitlist story. Weekend Two held out longer, but by late September its 3-day GA and GA+ had joined Weekend One on the waitlist. What's still on sale is the expensive end and the single days: 3-day VIP on both weekends ($1,850 for W1, $1,760 for W2), Weekend Two Platinum, Sunday GA and GA+ on both weekends, and Friday and Sunday VIP days.

Two structural facts sharpen the stakes. Every sale is final: no refunds, no exchanges, and wristbands that lock to their owner with a single $25 replacement for the original purchaser. And the only legitimate second chances are official ones. That means the Front Gate waitlist for sold-out types, or Ticketmaster's Verified Exchange, where resale tickets are verified and reissued in the buyer's name. Anything bought outside those two routes risks being refused at the gate.

The waitlist is free to join from a Front Gate account, first-come-first-served, with no guarantee and a cancel-anytime option. It's worth taking seriously, because sold-out tiers genuinely do re-open as payment plans default and plans change. It closes one to two weeks before the festival, though, and with Weekend One starting on 2 October that isn't long.

If you're bringing kids, the policy is generous. Children 8 and under come free with a ticketed adult, up to two per adult, with Platinum the exception - that one needs a paid kids ticket for ages 3-8. The hotel market is its own race. Downtown and South Congress fill early and rates climb toward the weekends, and Crewfare runs the official hotel-plus-ticket packages if you'd rather buy the two together.

The cheaper way in is a single day: Sunday GA and GA+ are still on sale on both weekends. Orders cap at six, so one or two buyers cover most squads. What sales being final really means is that everyone needs to be certain before checkout rather than after it. Anyone holding out for a 3-day GA pass joins the waitlist for their exact weekend and tier. It's free and cancellable, but it closes a week or two before the festival, so it's now or not at all.

The near-term job is deciding before the last tiers go and the waitlist closes. The longer lesson is the December blind presale. The cheapest ACL tickets of any cycle get sold before the lineup exists - $325 with $20 down last December - and the two-weekend format means the bill is always going to be broad. ACL 2027 dates aren't out yet, but the last two presales opened on 11 December 2024 and 10 December 2025, a day or two after the dates were announced. If you trust the festival's track record at all, buying in December banks the difference.

What you actually remember about ACL is golden hour. The skyline lighting up behind the flags, a hundred small discoveries between headline sets, the shuttle ride back downtown with the whole day still ringing in your ears.
