What is UNTOLD?

A Transylvanian city becomes one of Europe's biggest dance floors.

UNTOLD 2026 runs from 6 to 9 August in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with Cluj Arena as the centrepiece and the festival spilling across the city around it. This is the 11th edition, billed as UNTOLD ONE, and the shape is unmistakable: four nights of stadium-scale electronic and pop headliners, a huge multi-stage bill, and a university city that treats the first weekend of August as its own carnival.

The 2026 bill runs from Martin Garrix, Kygo, The Chainsmokers, Carl Cox and Steve Aoki all the way to Sting and Lewis Capaldi, and the scale is real: the 2025 edition passed 470,000 attendances, and UNTOLD has sat at number three in DJ Mag's festival rankings three years running. Two things matter for planning: it is a cashless site, so wristband top-ups are part of the trip, and there is no on-site camping. The city is the campsite, from student-campus dorms to five-star hotels, which makes accommodation a first-class ticket decision rather than an afterthought.

Dates

6-9 August 2026, four festival days and nights across Cluj Arena and the city.

Place

Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania. Cluj Arena is the main stage; the city carries the rest of the festival.

Scale

One of Europe's biggest electronic festivals, with recent editions counted in the hundreds of thousands of attendances.

Why people come back

Stadium fireworks, a city that joins in, affordable Eastern European nights and a bill that keeps landing global headliners.

The UNTOLD mainstage with two giant wolf sculptures under a clear blue sky
The mainstage UNTOLD builds inside Cluj Arena is the reason people cross a continent for this. The ticket admin is the price of standing under it.

Why tickets are hard

Late-stage UNTOLD is a depletion game with account admin attached.

UNTOLD sells through its official shop at published phase prices, and passes were still live and buyable when we checked in late July. That is the good news. The catch is what this close to the dates actually looks like: General Access is already in Phase 5 at roughly 1,155 RON (about 228 EUR), the shop shows an estimated final gate-time price far above that, VIP tiers such as Main Stage and Galaxy Backstage climb from there, and single-day tickets for the big nights are live but depleting. The shop charges in Romanian lei, so non-Romanian cards pay at their bank's exchange rate.

One mechanic is built for groups and worth knowing before anything else: the Friendship Pack. General Access bought as a pack of two, three or four costs less per ticket than a solo pass, and the discount deepens with pack size. At UNTOLD, a coordinated group is not just calmer, it is literally cheaper. There is also a separate Under-25 General Access pass at a lower price for eligible buyers.

The other constraint is the account layer. Every ticket on the shop states that online check-in needs an UNTOLD account created with the phone number used at purchase, and the pass lives in that account's wallet as a QR code that gets exchanged for a wristband against ID at the festival. A group that waits until the last week to sort accounts and check-in is adding admin, and as the next section shows, real fees, to the most stressful part of the trip.

  • Phase pricing only moves one way: every phase that sells through makes the same pass more expensive, and the shop already previews a higher gate-time price.
  • The VIP ladder is a real decision: Main Stage and Galaxy Backstage are different budgets, and all VIP products are 18+.
  • Every attendee needs an UNTOLD account tied to a phone number; passes live in that account wallet, and paid orders are non-refundable.
  • There is no official resale channel: the in-app transfer is the only sanctioned person-to-person route, and tickets bought outside authorised platforms can be cancelled.

The check-in trap

The quiet deadline: free check-in lasts 30 days, then every pass costs extra.

This is the rule that stings groups, and it is written in UNTOLD's own FAQ. Every pass must be checked in by the person actually attending, in their own name. Online check-in is free only in the first 30 days after purchase. After that it costs 15 EUR per ticket online, or 25 EUR per ticket at the festival gates. The wristband is issued against the QR code in your account wallet plus valid ID or a passport, and under-18s need signed parental consent on top.

Transfers have their own small print. A pass can be sent in-app to another person's phone number, and the recipient checks in under their own name, but the terms list transfer fees from 35 to 250 lei depending on ticket type, and a ticket that has completed both online check-in and online top-up can no longer be edited or transferred at all. Run the maths before anyone says "we'll sort names later": a crew of ten that leaves check-in for festival week is quietly agreeing to pay 150 to 250 EUR in fees for admin that was free the day they bought.

Know the rules and costs before you buy. The 30-day window, the per-ticket fees, the transfer small print and the wallet-QR-plus-ID wristband exchange are all official, published mechanics. Groups that read them once and write them into the plan simply do not pay these fees.

Ticket rules

Named or transferable? We checked.

Named tickets

Named at check-in (ID at wristband pickup). In-platform transfer exists but costs 35-250 RON by ticket type (100 RON for a GA 4-day pass), and a ticket with completed online check-in plus cashless top-up can no longer be edited or transferred.

Each ticket is tied to a person's details at purchase, so passing one on later is restricted or costs a fee. The crew move: buy for each other, get everyone's details right the first time, and treat name changes as the exception, not the plan.

The group method

For late-stage UNTOLD, the method is route coverage and one shared plan.

UNTOLD does not publish a per-checkout ticket limit on its current public pages, so this guide will not invent one; verify the limit at checkout when you buy. What a group can control is the shape of the buy. Friendship Packs reward deciding together: a pack of four is the cheapest per-ticket General Access on the shop, but only if four people have committed before checkout. Beyond that, split the live routes so nobody duplicates work: official shop stock, single-day tickets, accommodation, and travel to Cluj.

UNTOLD group buying method

  1. 1

    Agree the trip shape

Four-day General Access, a Friendship Pack of two to four, Under-25, a VIP tier or a single big night are different trips with different budgets. Decide together before anyone opens the shop; the pack discount only exists for groups that have already committed.

  2. 2

    Create route owners

Assign people to official shop stock, single-day passes, accommodation packages and travel instead of everyone watching the same page.

  3. 3

    Collect the account data

UNTOLD account email, pass tier, per-person budget ceiling and accommodation need should be written down before checkout, not after.

  4. 4

    Track check-in, not just purchase

A bought pass is not a finished pass. Record who is checked in, who is not, and the 30-day deadline for every purchase date.

A calm UNTOLD plan has one place for the real answers: who has an UNTOLD account, who wants which tier, what the per-person budget ceiling is, who is checked in, who still is not, where everyone sleeps and how everyone gets to Cluj Arena on night one.

Buying this close

Keep the shop, day passes, accommodation and arrival plan together.

Two and a half weeks out, UNTOLD goes wrong in predictable ways: someone buys the wrong tier because the group never agreed budgets, someone assumes a day pass will still exist on Friday, someone books a hotel across town from everyone else, and nobody checks anyone in until the fees apply. All of it is avoidable with one shared board and a few named owners.

MomentWhat the group does
Before buyingUNTOLD accounts created for everyone, tiers and budgets agreed, accommodation plan sketched, one shared board live.
Official shopBuy the agreed tier and pack size only, then record owner, price paid, account phone number and check-in status immediately.
Day ticketsOne person watches single-day stock for the big nights and posts availability the moment it moves.
AccommodationConfirm official packages or city bookings in the same plan, close to each other and to Cluj Arena.
Check-in windowCheck every pass in within 30 days of its purchase date; transfer drop-outs in-app early so replacements check in free.
ArrivalID ready, wallet QR loaded, wristband top-up done online, meeting point agreed before the stadium swallows phone signal.

4 nights

6-9 August, and the biggest nights lose day-ticket stock first.

Packs of 4

Friendship Packs make the per-ticket price cheapest for committed groups of two, three or four.

30 days

The free check-in window per purchase; after that it is 15 EUR online, 25 EUR at the gate.

avoid250EUR in fees

For UNTOLD, the win is not beating a queue. It is never paying avoidable fees.

A ten-person crew that leaves check-in until festival week can owe 150 to 250 EUR for admin that was free inside the window. One shared plan with check-in status on it makes that number zero.

Confetti falling over the UNTOLD crowd at night, with a Romanian flag held up
Four nights of this is what the shared plan is secretly for: everyone checked in, nobody paying gate fees, and the only thing left to argue about is the closing set.

Why it matters

UNTOLD is easier to love when the admin is already done.

The best UNTOLD memories are not made in the top-up queue, or at the gate paying a 25 EUR fee that was avoidable a month earlier, or on the phone to a mate whose pass is still in the wrong account. They are made when the wristband goes on cleanly, the group has a meeting point that survives patchy stadium signal, and the only decision left is which stage to close the night on.

None of this is queue-jumping or gaming the system. It is the boring, official admin, done early, so that four nights in Cluj can be anything but boring.

Where TicketSquad helps

TicketSquad keeps the UNTOLD plan out of the group-chat scroll.

TicketSquad gives an UNTOLD squad one place for account emails, pass tiers, per-person budgets, accommodation choices, check-in status and who has already bought. Set the event up once, invite the crew, and the answers stop living in screenshots and half-remembered voice notes.

That matters for a festival like this because the failure mode is not losing a queue war. It is mismatched decisions: two tiers, three hotels, one missed check-in window. With the group aligned before anyone pays, the trip gets to be about the music.

This is one way we help

The event page becomes the plan, not just the place you store names.

Once the ticket method is clear, the next question is everything around it: where the official links are, what kind of ticket or package the squad is aiming for, what the lineup status is, how people get there, where they sleep, and what they should know before they arrive. TicketSquad keeps that event knowledge beside the data your squad needs to submit.
