Joining an event
What happens when someone sends you a TicketSquad invite link - from tapping it to being sale-day ready.
Someone's organising tickets and sent you a link. Here's the whole journey - it takes about a minute.
1. The invite link
Every event has exactly one live invite link. Tap it and you'll see the invitation: the event, who's organising, how many people are in the Squad so far, the sale time (shown in the event's own timezone, so everyone sees the same moment), and roughly what details you'll be asked for.
If the link says it's no longer active, the coordinator has probably regenerated it - links can be refreshed at any time, and old ones stop working immediately. Ask whoever sent it for the latest one.
If you're already signed in, tapping an invite skips straight to the join step; if you're already in the event, you get an "Already joined" screen naming your group, with a button through to the event.
On the web, Join this group takes you through sign-in (or a free sign-up) and straight into the join step.
2. Say how you stand with tickets
The join step asks one question that shapes everything else:
- I need a ticket - the default. Your sale-day details become part of the Squad's readiness.
- I have a ticket for this event - you can still squad up, stay organised, and help others buy.
- I'm not going; I'm joining to help - you become a helper: not counted as attending, and organisers can dock you to a buying group to support it on sale day.
On a transferable event this step also asks for your counts - how many you hold, any spares, how many you need - which seed the tickets board.
3. Pick a display name
So your Squad knows it's you on the member list. Photos are optional and can be added later from your profile.
That's the whole join on the web - your coordinator places you into a buying group (you'll see "Waiting room" until they do, or "Helper bench" if you joined to help).
4. You're in
The confirmation shows your place: your Group, the waiting room, or the helper bench.
The web confirmation also shows the sale date - and your event-specific details aren't collected during the join. Registration numbers, postcodes, ticket preferences - whatever this event needs - get added from the event page ("My data") whenever you have them, and the readiness tracker will nudge the Squad about anything missing long before sale day.
What about my details?
Joining shares your display name with the event's roster. What happens to the details you submit later depends on the event's privacy mode - in a Closed event, personal details stay inside your own buying group.
